Weddings: Between the Ceremony and Reception

Wedding Days are very personal and are meant to be savoured.  So much anticipation is created around weddings that it is important to take a deep breath and enjoy each moment.  Many brides comment after the wedding that the day seemed to fly by, so enjoying time for bridal photos offers not only a bit of fun and intimacy with your new husband or wife but memories with photographs capturing the essence of your wedding day.
After the ceremony there is time for family photographs before the bridal party depart for personal photos.  This is a perfect time for guests to mingle and socialise and celebrate your marriage.  As long as guests are entertained, you can allow as much time as needed for your photographs.  It is important not to rush or set unrealistic time schedules when planning the rest of the reception.  Guests can enjoy a drink and Canapés while you are away and gives them a change to relax.
Work with an event coordinator or individual suppliers (caterers, photographer, entertainers, bar staff etc) so ensure guests are looked after during your departure.  It is a great idea also not involving family too much with jobs after the ceremony, as family photographs and welcoming guests do take time.
Have readily available a shady area for guests, seats and water for guests.  These are the basic essentials and can plan your service from here.  Organising the bar yourself is the most cost effective option at weddings.  A selection of drinks offers guests’ choice; soft drinks, punch/juice, tea/coffee and possibly beer and wine if you would like this served.  Select cups suited to the area, and decide if you will require extra for the reception.  Don’t forget the ice!  Ensure you have plenty of bins available for empty bottles and rubbish.  Hiring a bar staff to assist with setup will ensure drinks can be available for service or self-service and assist with keeping the area clean.
Finger Foods are a perfect catering option served between the ceremony and reception.  Ask your catering company for ideas and options available.  A Finger Food table is perfect at weddings; this allows guests to move around without having to miss out!  Finger Foods can also be walked around to guests to enjoy and well suited for hot canapés.
Design your Finger Food service to suit the length of your photography and travel time.  Guests are generally quite hungry at weddings, as they have been busy getting ready or travelling rather than having a routine meal.  Providing adequate catering ensures guests are well fed especially if alcohol is provided.
